Method Call Parameter Naming Style (Omit or Require)

WarningClean ABAP & Modern SyntaxQuickFix Ready#EC PREF_PARAM_NAMELocal Only

Overview

Method Call Parameter Naming Style.

ATC Finding Messages:

  • Omit explicit parameter name in single parameter method call
  • Add explicit parameter name to positional method call

Rationale

Methods with a single importing parameter can be invoked positionally without naming the parameter, reducing verbosity for self-explanatory methods. Alternatively, teams requiring explicit naming can enable REQUIRE_PARAM_NAME to enforce explicit parameter naming for clarity and future signature extension.

Non-Compliant

Compliant

abap

  1. Position the cursor on the flagged statement.
  2. Press Ctrl + 1 (Quick Assist).
  3. Select the automated refactoring to apply the clean syntax immediately.

Configuration & Thresholds

This check can be fine-tuned directly in the ATC Check Variant Editor (CHKV) in Eclipse ADT:

REQUIRE_PARAM_NAMEBooleanfalseRequire explicit parameter names when calling multi-parameter methods
