Omit Redundant Call Syntax (EXPORTING / RECEIVING / Single Param)

WarningAnti-Patterns & Bad PracticesQuickFix Ready#EC EXPORTINGLocal Only

Overview

Omit redundant EXPORTING and RECEIVING in method calls.

ATC Finding Messages:

  • Omit explicit EXPORTING keyword in method invocation
  • Omit RECEIVING keyword; use functional call or omit parameter
  • Omit explicit parameter name in single parameter method call

Rationale

In functional calls the EXPORTING and RECEIVING keywords are optional, and a method with a single importing parameter can be called positionally. Repeating the keywords and parameter name adds noise without improving clarity. Omit them when the call is unambiguous, but keep parameter names when several optional parameters could be confused.
